Via Euronews: Coronavirus latest: Austria opens borders to neighbours – except Italy
Austria has reopened its borders with its neighbours, removing virus-related restrictions, with the exception of Italy.
The Austrian government has said Italy’s coronavirus numbers are too high.
For those coming from Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary and the Czech Republic, there will now be no entry checks.
Italy’s foreign minister Luigi Di Maio has warned “individualism violates the community spirit and damages Europe and the Single Market”.
Italy has opened its borders to tourists from Europe as it attempts to revive its economy.
